In the feudal age of Japan with war as a daily exercise, telling friend from foe is the difference between life and death.  This is where passwords, codes and signals come into play.  Passwords were instrumental at such times as delivering information, possession of secret documents or contacting allies behind enemy lines.  They used motifs from nature and antonyms from
