SHINOBI NANABAKE

The Shinobi Nanabake are the “Seven Disguises of the Ninja” which are found in the Shoninki.  The Shoninki is a famous ninja text written in 1681 by Natori Masatake of Kishu. Natori Masatake says that with these seven disguises, a ninja could blend into their surroundings in order to infiltrate and gather information.

The Shoninki (Secret Account of Ninjutsu) consists of three volumes detailing Natori-ryu Ninjutsu. In the Budo Ryu Kai, we use the term “Shinobi Nanabake” when talking about these seven specific disguises that was written within the Shoninki text.
